Competitions

Students who are accepted into the competitive category must exhibit a strong commitment to scheduled practice times and an intense dedication to mastering choreography. Please read the following terms carefully.

• Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Senior, and Advanced students only. 
• Students who cannot commit to all competitions will not be accepted into the competitive class. Competitive students missing more than THREE classes will not be allowed to compete.
• Costume(s) are required for competitive students (refer to Payments section of booklet re: Costumes). 
• Competition fees are extra and will be due in December, 2009. A registration form will be sent out.
• Monthly fees for competitive lessons are based on additional time for said classes.
• Students registered as competitive dancers with HSD may only compete with our studio. A student may dance with another studio, but only compete with HSD.
• The Competitive Program is for serious dancers only!  This is a huge commitment. Rehearsals and performances are mandatory. Student placement is subject to Kelly’s discretion. Certain classes may require an audition and/or a mandatory ballet class. 
• Competitive students are required to practice. Students who do not do so or do not know the choreography will not compete.
• Competition dates will be sent out in the September Newsletter. If your child cannot attend all competitions, they will be removed from the competitive program. NO REFUNDS.

Competition Agreement
Students will be asked to sign a Competition Agreement at the beginning of the dance season. Rules, policies and expectations of the parent, student and teachers will be outlined within this agreement.
